Chinese Pre-Wedding
Hanfu Photography in Singapore
Thoughtfully styled wedding portraits inspired by Chinese aesthetics and historical dress.
A timeless way to say: this is us.
Your pre-wedding photographs are more than a wedding tradition — they are the beginning of your family's story.
Whether you are drawn to the elegance of hanfu, the symbolism of traditional Chinese attire, or simply desire an unconventional wedding photoshoot, our sessions are designed to celebrate your story in a meaningful way.
With personalised styling and expert guidance throughout, we’ll help you create timeless images that capture both the beauty of tradition and the connection you share.
Why choose a Chinese
pre-wedding photoshoot?
For couples who value tradition, a Chinese pre-wedding photoshoot offers a beautiful way to honour cultural heritage while remaining true to your own sense of style. Elements traditionally associated with harmony, prosperity, and a lasting union can be thoughtfully incorporated, creating images that feels auspicious without appearing overly ceremonial.
Many couples also choose a Chinese pre-wedding photoshoot because they'll already be wearing a gown and suit on their wedding day. Rather than recreating the same aesthetic twice, a hanfu or traditional Chinese photoshoot lets you explore a completely different look and experience, adding more variety to your wedding memories.
Beyond the photoshoot, it's a shared experience. Seeing each other dressed in traditional Chinese attire, exploring beautiful locations, and creating something unique together often becomes one of the most memorable parts of the wedding journey. Years from now, you may remember the laughter while learning to pose in unfamiliar robes, the feeling of stepping into another era hand in hand, or the quiet moment when everything felt a little magical.

Every couple connects differently with Chinese aesthetics. We help you choose a style that reflects your personality, comfort, and the kind of story you want your images to tell.
Formal Hanfu
For a more dramatic, immersive experience
Richly detailed historical-inspired styling that allows you to fully step into an elegant, cinematic world. Ideal for couples who want bold, statement-making portraits that reflect opulence or cultural depth.
Casual Hanfu
For relaxed, natural storytelling
A lighter approach to hanfu photography, focused on candid interaction and ease. Perfect for couples who prefer playful, intimate moments and a more effortless shooting experience.

For modern elegance and refinement
A contemporary take on Chinese-inspired portraiture, combining cultural influence with clean, stylish aesthetics. Best suited for couples who prefer sophistication over historical styling.

Our Process
-
It all starts with getting to know you. Through a short questionnaire, we’ll take note of your preferences, measurements, and get a sense of your unique personality. We’ll then send you a curated selection of hanfu styles that will bring out your best, and recommend shoot locations to suit the preferred outfits.
-
Once the session details have been finalised, a deposit will be required to secure the booking. We’ll get in touch closer to the shoot date to send you more information on the schedule and how to prepare for the experience.
-
Makeup and hair will be meticulously done on set before we dress you in the chosen outfits. During the shoot, we’ll coach you on posing and work with you to capture your best angles. Sufficient time has been planned for you to get comfortable and interact with a variety of props and accessories.
-
You will receive the full-resolution colour-edited images within two to three weeks of your session. You can then select more images for fine-editing, where we apply industry standard retouching techniques to refine skin and facial features. These polished images will be presented with options for albums and fine-art prints.
How much does a portrait experience cost?
Each session is thoughtfully tailored, with styling, creative direction, and overall mood shaped around your vision.
As such, we have a range of packages that can be customised to the experience you choose.
Sessions start from $780, and include:
Rental of Hanfu or Chinese-style outfits for the couple (selected from our Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing collections)
Professional hair styling and makeup for both bride and groom.
Fully-guided photography session
Colour-editing and retouching of selected images
Access to curated sets, props, and backdrops designed for Chinese wedding photography in Singapore
Full resolution digital images with options for prints

This ensures a calm, unhurried environment where you can feel fully present and at ease throughout your portrait session. There are no on-the-day upsells, allowing you to step into the photoshoot with complete ease and clarity.

What’s it like to work with us?
“Always wanted a hanfu photoshoot without going China and this studio made my dreams come true! Sharon and her team are very professional. Based on my preference and style, she recommended me a few hanfu that suits me best. Her hanfu are such beauties and they are so hard to only choose one out of so many. My husband and i ended up picking two each! Love how she fix up the background for my photoshoot, totally satisfy the dreamy feel I wish to have. The end products were amazing! With Sharon and her team's expertise, any average looking lady can turn into fairy haha :)) I also realise she has many returning customers and I understand why. I will definitely be one of them soon. Keep it up Sharon and Team. Absolutely love your work!”

“Sharon took it upon herself to work extensively with the references, images and design that I wanted in preparation for the shoot. The set was beautifully built and matched the aesthetics of the references of photoshoots I stylistically enjoy. The outfits looked amazing for the set and Sharon walked us through and guided us on all the poses. Her enthusiasm on the photos also hyped up the energy for us and the environment felt positive, warm and welcoming. Final photos came out beautifully and Sharon goes above and beyond to ensure that we're satisfied with the photos from color, fine tuning and other finished details. Thank you Sharon & Team for making this whole experience an unforgettable memory!”

FAQs
-
A Chinese pre-wedding photoshoot is a photography experience where couples are styled in hanfu or other types of Chinese attire, which is our area of specialisation. It offers a new way to create pre-wedding portraits that feel rooted in culture in Singapore.
-
We provide a curated selection of casual and formal hanfu from different historical periods, including Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Each style offers a distinct silhouette and mood, allowing couples to explore different expressions of Chinese heritage.
For qipaos or neo-Chinese styles, we do not provide outfits in-house. However, we are happy to assist with sourcing or recommending trusted sellers. These pieces often require more precise tailoring, and working with specialists ensures a better fit and finish for your shoot.
-
Yes, professional styling for both bride and groom are included in all our couple packages. Our makeup artists are trained in Chinese bridal styling, designed to complement hanfu and enhance the overall aesthetic of your chosen look.
-
Dressed up Dreams offers a variety of indoor studio sets designed specifically for Chinese wedding photoshoots, allowing you to shoot in comfort with controlled lighting and carefully designed backdrops.
For outdoor portraits, popular locations include Gardens by the Bay, Chinese Garden, and select restaurants or private venues suited for qipao or neo-Chinese couple photography. We are happy to recommend locations based on your outfit selection and the mood you wish to create.
-
We’ll begin with a short questionnaire to understand your preferences, personality, and desired aesthetic. This allows us to tailor the concept of your Chinese pre-wedding photoshoot before the session.
Before your photoshoot date, we will provide a preparation guide covering beauty routines, what to bring, and how to get ready for your shoot.
-
We recommend booking at least 2–3 weeks in advance, especially for weekend slots or concepts that require outfit sourcing. If your photos are intended for wedding use, do let us know your timeline so we can work backwards and advise on availability.
-
Of course! Most of the images you see are captured from real client sessions with no prior modelling experience. We guide you throughout the shoot in a way that feels natural and responsive to your personality, so nothing feels forced or overly posed.
-
Yes! We welcome all couples, including inter-racial and non-Chinese couples, for hanfu photography and Chinese pre-wedding photoshoots in Singapore. In some cases, we may also suggest neo-Chinese or contemporary styling if it better aligns with your personal story and overall aesthetic. The intention is always the same: to create imagery that feels intentional, elegant, and true to who you are.

Xiuhefu is inspired by late Qing Dynasty and early 20th-century Chinese bridal wear, and it carries many traditional wedding symbols such as dragons, phoenixes, and auspicious motifs that represent blessings for marriage.
However, the style seen today is a modern reinterpretation rather than a direct historical reproduction. It has been refined over time for contemporary weddings, with enhanced embroidery, richer colours, and a more stylised silhouette to suit modern aesthetics and photography.
In contrast, hanfu refers more broadly to historical clothing worn across different dynasties in China, with a wide range of styles and everyday wear traditions.
